Application Guidelines
Rochester Montessori School's goal is to admit students and families who share and support our educational and philosophical ideals, and who bring cultural, social, economic and ethnic diversity to our classrooms.

Admission Process

Step One: Tour of the school. Please contact the office at office@rmschool.org or admissions@rmschool.org or call (507)288-8725  for open tour dates. (Tours begin in October and end in late May).

Step Two: Fill out an application, including $75 non-refundable fee. Applications are given out
                 at the tours or you can download the application (2 pages) below.

Step Three: Complete an observation. Prospective parent observations are held on Wednesdaymornings at 9:15 am (beginning in October and ending in late May). You may also sign up for an observation on Tuesday or Thursday morning at 9:15, but no question and answer period is offered. After your observation you are invited to a question and answer session with the Admissions Director.


Placement Offers
We begin making placements in February for the next school year. Offers of placement are made by the Admissions Director and are based on the needs of the individual environments. A tour of the school, an observation, and a completed application with application fee are required before a placement offer is considered.

Financial Aid
Please contact the Admissions Director for information about available financial aid options.
Deadline for applying for finanical aid is April 15th.

Admission Fees for 2009-2010

Security Deposit     $500
A one-time Security Deposit of $500 is required for each new child accepted for placement.
There is a $1500 maximum payment per family.
This is a non-interest bearing deposit payable as stated on the "Acceptance for Placement Letter."
The Security Deposit in non-transferable and may not be used to save a placement without meeting all other financial obligations.
The Security Deposit is refundable only at the end of each sub-plane development and only when notice is given during the re-enrollment period. This means after the Toddler program is complete, after the Children's House is complete, after the Elementary 1 program is complete and after the Elementary 2 program is complete. (for 2009-2010 in Elementary 2, security deposits will be returned after the 5th and 6th years.) There may be circumstances that require attention and we will handle those on a case by case basis.

Parent Teacher Student Association       $35
A yearly fee per family due with the first tuition payment. This mondy is used to provide a base of operation for the PTSA.

Building Fee     $480
A yearly non-refundable fee assessed per family to defer cost associated with the building acquisition. This will be deducted with your second tuition payment.

Elementary Fees     $75
Class fee.
*There may be a fee for larger scale outings. (i.e. Eagle Bluff)

Tuition for 2009-2010 School Year
A yearly rate payable in 10 installments, June (1), and September through May (9) respectively.

Half Day Toddler and Children's House                                    $5,160/year
Full Day (all programs)                                                          $8,595/year

Additional Services (CH and Elementary only)

Early Drop Off (7:30-8:40)                                                      $5.25/day
Late Pick-up 1 (3:30-4:30)                                                      $5.50/day
Late Pick-up 2 (3:30-5:30)                                                      $8.25/day
*Reservations taken starting in August. Limited drop-ins available.
