Receptionist/Office Assistant (Half-Time, 1:30 - 5:30 PM)
Rochester Montessori School – Rochester, MN
Rochester Montessori School, founded in 1967, is seeking a warm, professional, and highly organized half-time Receptionist/Office Assistant to join our administrative team. This role
serves as the welcoming presence at the front desk and works closely with the Office Manager and school leadership to ensure smooth daily operations.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 1:30 - 5:30 PM
Year-long position (school holidays observed)
Primary Responsibilities
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional and friendly manner
- Greet, screen, and assist visitors while maintaining school safety procedures
- Monitor building entry and manage visitor sign-in protocols
- Support student dismissal processes and attendance tracking
- Respond to parent inquiries via phone and email
- Receive and distribute mail and deliveries
- Maintain organized front office systems and supplies
- Provide administrative support in coordination with the Office Manager and school
- leadership
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding students, families, and personnel
Qualifications
- Prior receptionist, front desk, or administrative experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional judgment and discretion
- Comfort using office technology (Google Workspace, email, databases, Canva)
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy and dynamic school environment
- Commitment to fostering a welcoming and respectful school community

After School Care Staff
Duration: School Year (10 months), Monday-Friday
Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt (hourly; 15 hours per week)
Reports To: Director of Additional Services
Rochester Montessori School serves students from 18 months through 8th grade, and offers after-school care for families who need it. This position begins August 11, 2025; hours are 2:30-5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
After school care staff help supervise children in the after school program, and help create a safe, fun, and caring environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Experience working with diverse students and families
- Passion for supporting children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Attentive and caring approach to working with children and their behavior
- Strong organizational skills
- Able to be teacher qualified under DHS licensing regulations

School Overview
Rochester Montessori School (RMS) is an independent Montessori day school established in 1968, serving 240 children ages 18 months through eighth grade. Our Middle School incorporates an International Baccalaureate Program (MYP). The school is deeply committed to providing an excellent academic education while empowering children to become independent, creative, empathetic, life-long learners who will build a better world.
Job Summary
The floating Substitute helps to cover classroom needs in the event of teacher or assistant absences. In addition to assisting in the classroom, this position also includes providing high-quality routine care to some of our younger students, including lunch help, nap supervision, and after-school care.
Required Qualifications:
