How To Apply
A Thoughtful and Seasonal Admissions Process
Rochester Montessori School follows a seasonal admissions cycle for the upcoming academic year. Our process is designed to give families a meaningful opportunity to experience the school, ask questions, and determine whether RMS is the right fit for their child.
Admissions for the following school year typically begin in October and conclude in early February, with enrollment decisions communicated in early March.

Visit the school
Admissions Tours
Adult-only tours are offered from October through January and take place during the uninterrupted morning work cycle—a hallmark of Montessori education. Tours include classroom observations, a guided walk through the school, and time to meet with administrative staff to ask questions.
Winter Open Houses
Open House events provide an opportunity for the entire family to explore classrooms, meet Guides, and learn more about the RMS community.
Submit an application
In order to submit and application you will need to:
- Complete the online application
- Submit the application fee
- Provide prior school records (required for Grades 1–6 applicants)
Applications are accepted during the October–February admissions window.
Student visits
Applicants for Grades 1–8 are invited for a classroom visit to assess readiness and fit within the school community.
- Grade 1: half-day morning visit
- Grades 2–8: full-day visit
Enrollment decisions
Enrollment offers are typically communicated in early March for the upcoming academic year. Siblings of current students receive priority consideration. All families are notified of admissions decisions.
Mid-year enrollment
While RMS operates on a seasonal admissions cycle, we do occasionally consider mid-year enrollment when openings occur and the school is the right fit for the child. Families interested in mid-year placement are encouraged to connect with the Admissions Office to discuss availability.
