Governance

Rochester Montessori School is governed by a Board of Trustees composed of dedicated community members who serve the long-term interests of the school.

The Board’s work is strategic and future-focused. It does not manage daily operations. Instead, the Board ensures that RMS remains financially strong, mission-driven, and positioned for long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities of the board

The board of trustees is responsible for:

  • Upholding the school’s Bylaws
  • Safeguarding long-term financial health
  • Affirming and protecting the Mission and Vision
  • Engaging in strategic planning
  • Hiring, supporting, and evaluating the Head of School

The Head of School is responsible for the daily administration and leadership of the school. This governance structure ensures clarity of roles and continuity of leadership.

Strategic direction

The Board works collaboratively with school leadership to establish long-term priorities that strengthen academic excellence, community engagement, and financial sustainability.

The 2025–2029 Strategic Plan reflects input from parents, staff, administration, and trustees. Families are encouraged to review our [Annual Reports] to learn more about progress toward these goals.

 Board membership

Trustees serve staggered three-year terms to promote continuity and institutional stability.
